Which TV Is Best For Your Home

There are many televisions on the market today, with several different types of displays. However, the two types of television most often discussed are the LCD (or Liquid Crystal Display) television and the Plasma TV. Each of these two types has its own unique advantages and drawbacks.

The LCD televisions use individual lights to create the on screen images. These televisions are much lighter than the average television and have a life span of around fifteen years. Although the LCD produces a high level of brightness the contrast and black levels are part of the negative side of these televisions.

Because individual lights are used, LCD televisions must block out light to create black. Another disadvantage to the LCD is that, on Liquid Crystal Displays with refresh rates higher than 16, fast-moving images, like sports telecasts, will often appear pixelated or choppy. This problem has been addressed, however, with newer LCD TV models being manufactured with lower refresh rates, some even as low as 5, which creates a much smoother picture when viewing fast-moving images, so that this pixelation rarely if ever occurs.

When you are purchasing a plasma television you will be getting the best brightness and contrast rates out of any television on the market. The plasma televisions are available in thirty seven inches and larger, and the prices are competitive to other television of the same size. When you are watching a program on a plasma television you will also have a clear picture no matter where you are in the room, unlike the LCD that you need to watch directly from the front.

The one negative aspect to the plasma television is that it will stamp an object onto the screen if it is immobile for a long period of time. Therefore, if you are watching a broadcast channel, that keep it’s logo in the corner, and you leave the television on throughout the day you may still see the logo even after you change the channel. This is the main reason that computer screens utilize LCD technology and not plasma.

While you are redecorating your family room you may want to consider purchasing a new plasma or LCD television. To get the best deals on accessories, such as an HDMI Cable go to www.uglycable.com.au.
